Robert Parker on the 2012 Bordeaux vintage

Robert Parker on the 2012 Bordeaux vintage

As is his yearly custom, Robert Parker has revealed his tasting notes for the wines he tasted at the 2012 Bordeaux futures.

Despite rumours of retirement, his consequent denials and the sale of the Wine Advocate to Asian investors, his tasting notes still have a great influence on the price trend of Bordeaux wines.

A complex and very heteregenous vintage that will encourage good business.

"My tastings clearly showed the superior quality of the Merlots, with the Pomerols at the top of the list closely followed by the Pessac-Leognans".

But the Left Bank still comes out well, with wines such as the Château Haut-Brion announcing a record percentage of Merlot in their blend.

2012 is a good year with regard to the development of dry white Bordeaux wines, three of which are ranked in the top 10!

"The sweet white wines are very disappointing while the dry white wines are magnificent, rich, intense, sweet and smooth. 2012 shows a very high quality vintage wine in the category."
